World Hunt 2008 Information
If you are coming to the World Hunt weekend activities here are some
things you will want to know.
Great Lakes Basset Club is honored to host the 2008 American Hunting Basset Association
World Hunt and it is our intention to have the best World Hunt ever. We hope that all who
read this information will choose to attend and enjoy this great family activity.
If someone needs to reach you while you are in the Vermontville area, and you don't have your

Location
The headquarters for the hunt will be at the Mullican Riverside Resort in Vermontville,
Michigan. This is a camp ground so if you wish to camp contact Paul Mullican at 517-726-
1558 or 313-381-2668. He will have special rates for AHBA hunt participants. They also have
an east - west landing strip if you plan to fly to the hunts. Call Paul Mullican for more
information.
Directions:
If you are using GPS the address of Mullican's Riverside Resort is 3266 North Ionia Road,
Vermontville, Michigan 49096
If you are coming from the north or south get to and travel I-69. Get off at exit 61 and go west
into the town of Charlotte. You will continue on the same road west. This is M-79 and you
continue on this road approximately 9 miles to Ionia Road, turn north for approximately 3 1/2
miles to Mullican's River Resort. If you are coming from the west or north-west you may want
to travel M-66 to M-79 and continue east approximately 4 miles. Look for AHBA signs once
you are on M-79. If you know the area well you may want to take some shortcuts.
Note: The small game hunting season is open so you may want to wear some hunter orange:
hat, vest, or whatever.
Note: All of the casts will be run on private land. Please treat the property as you would your
own. No trash or damage to the property. Please clean up after your hounds. A pooper scooper
and a trash container will be near the clubhouse,
Motels in the area:
Please note that all of the Charlotte motels are full. We have several people already booked in
the Charlotte motels and there is a dance contest going on in the area this same weekend.

A bunkhouse is available on the camp grounds. Bring cots and sleeping bags. This building is
available starting Wednesday night. Toilets and showers are near the bunkhouse.
There are motels in Lansing. Check your map for the I-69 and M-43 intersection. There are
several motels in that area.
Soft Drinks and Bottled Water
Soft drinks and bottled water will be available every day at the registration table for 50 cents
per bottle. Judges will receive soda and water at no cost.
Coffee is free during the 4 days of AHBA activities; compliments of the Great Lakes Basset
Club.
Dates and times
Wednesday, March 26
The camp ground is open for early arrivals who may want to run their hounds to get them
loosened up.
Thursday, March 7
Hound of the Year Run-Offs for the top 10 hounds in each class. Deadline is 7:00 am. No
entry fee for this competition.
Breakfast and lunch (Thursday and Sunday) are provided by the Great Lakes Basset Club and
there is no specific charge, but we hope you will give a donation to help pay for the food and
eating supplies. Breakfast: donuts, toast, peanut butter and jam. Coffee and hot chocolate will
be available.
Lunch will be sloppy joes and cake. You are on your own for dinner. Good restaurants in
Vermontville and Charlotte.
7:00 pm AHBA Board of Director's meeting in the clubhouse
Friday, March 28
Beginning of 2008 World Hunt. Deadline is 7:00 am. We will start taking registrationsa bout
5:30 am. Entry fees for the field are $20.00 per hound and the Bench Show fees are $10.00
per hound. All entries are to be paid at the time the hounds are entered
Meals on Friday and Saturday are being served by an Amish family in the area. The cost of
mealsw ill be $5.00 for breakfastm eals (egg sandwichesf,r esh baked sweetr olls, and coffee)
and $6.00 for lunches( hot soup,s andwichesw ith fresh bakedb read- with or without cheese).
This family will also be preparing and serving the banquet meal. Purina is providing $10.00 per
person for the banquet and the additional charge of $8.00 is to be paid for each person who will
attend the banquet (children l0 and under $5.00). The banquet charge is to be paid to Bob Gray
or Barb Farris at the registration table by_noon on Friday. When you pay you have a
confirmed reservation. Note that the Hall of Fame people are our guests and they do not pay
for their banquet meal.
Friday night you are on your own for dinner.
The Bench Show starts at 5:30 pm in the clubhouse area and will end when the last hound is
judged this day.
Note that during the hunt days there will be raffle tickets sold for 2 raffles. There is the BIG
raffle where the proceeds will go to the AHBA Fund and a 50/50 raffle (winner will split the
money collected) where the proceeds from this raffle will go to the Great Lakes Basset Club.
Tickets are $1.00 each or 7 for $5.00.
Saturday, March 29
7:00 am resume the World Hunt
12:00 noon deadline for entries for Michigan State Championships. Entry fees are $15.00
for the field and $7.00 for the bench. Fees are to be paid at the time you register your hounds.
Enter 3 hounds in the field and get a free entry for the 4th entry.
7:00 pm Awards Banquet at the Opera House in downtown Vermontville. If you wish to
have alcoholic beverages this is permitted but no alcoholic beverages will be sold on the
premises.
AHBA Hall of Fame people will be honored at the banquet.
The BIG raffle will be held after the banquet and awards. If you are donating items for the
raffle see Bill Ehle when you arrive at the clubhouse.
If you play an instrumentb ring it and join in the Blue Grasse ntertainment.S o far we have a
banio, a guitar and a mandolin.
Sunday. March 30
7:00 am resume the Michigan State Championships. Breakfast and lunch prepared by
GLBC but please leave a donation.
We are planning that the Michigan hunt will be concluded by noon on Sunday.

change times and dates of some events.
